Beliefs and Bible Doctrines

Section 1. We accept the Bible and the Bible only as containing the doctrine of life and salvation. We believe we should put forth earnest, prayerful effort to rightly divide and apply its teaching in accordance with Il Timothy 2:15. Among the things, which we believe to be outstanding truths of the Bible, are the following:

  • That there is only one God and Creator. Genesis 1:1, Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 1 Timothy 2:5.

  • That Jesus Christ is God's only begotten Son, whom He has crowned with immortality and who He has placed over all the works of His hands (Ephesians 1:20-22) and that in His death and resurrection man receives atonement for sin. John 3:16; Matthew 16:16; I Corinthians 15:16-20.

  • That man is a mortal creature of God, dependent upon Christ for immortality and salvation. I Corinthians 15:55; Genesis 2: 7; 3:19; Ecclesiastes 9:5,10.

  • That "the gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth." Romans 1:16.

  • That entrance into Christ is by way of belief of the gospel and obedience by immersion (baptism) Mark 16:15, 16; Galatians 3:27.

  • That continued obedience of faith is required to maintain one's relationship with Christ and to assure victory through Christ. Jude 3:4; Romans 6:1-4.

  • That Christ is to return to earth literally (Acts 1:11) that He is to fashion the members of His church like unto His own glorious body (Philippians 3:20,21; I Thessalonians 4:16, 17) and that He is to regather and reorganize Israel into a kingdom, and that He will occupy the throne of His father, David, over the then established kingdom which will include all loyal gentile nations. Luke 1:32,33; Ezekiel 37:21-23; Jeremiah 23:5-8; Isaiah 2:2-5.

  • That there is to be a resurrection of the dead. Daniel 12:1,2; John 5:28, 29; Romans 8:11; I Thessalonians 4:13-17; I John 3:2.

  • That there will be a final judgment at which time the wicked will be destroyed and the righteous will be given eternal life. I Corinthians 15:51-54; Acts 24: 14, 15; Romans 6:23, 11 Thessalonians 1:7-10.

  • That the Holy Spirit is the power of God working in the lives of believers today. Romans 8:9-11; Ephesians 3:16.

  • That the Church is the Body of Christ and should function as such. Ephesians 5:23; Ephesians 1:22,23.

  • That Jesus Christ is Lord; that is, (that) everything (that) we have is His and should be used as such.
